During her studies at Musikhochschule München under Professor Reri Grist and Jan Hendrick Rootering, German Mezzosoprano Rita Kapfhammer also studied lied interpretation with Prof. Helmut Deutsch and attended the Oratorio class of Prof. Hellmann. From 1997 to 2007 she was engaged at Theater Ulm, where she has sung such roles as Santuzza in "Cavalleria Rusticana", Adalcisa in "Norma", Amneris in "Aida", Dalila in "Samson und Dalila", as well as Jane Seymour in "Anna Bolena". During this time she made guest appearances at Opera Baltica in the role of Jane Seymour and on Gran Canaria as Dalila. Since 2009 she sings regularly at "Festival Música Mallorca", amongst other roles Santuzza and Carmen in French. She also sings nearly all major roles in Oratorio like Bach: "Matthäuspassion", "Weihnachtsoratorium", "h-Moll Messe" Beethoven: "Missa Solemnis" at Herkulessaal München Händel: "Messias", "Elias", "Saul" Martin: "Golgatha" at Herkulessaal München Rossini: "Di Gloria", "Petite Messe Solennelle" Furthermore she performed four different Lied programs in one year in such prestigious locations as Nationalmuseum in Munich and Kornhaus in Ulm. To great critical acclaim she has sung several lied Soirées in the chamber music program of Theater Ulm. Currently Rita Kapfhammer is engaged at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich where she sings roles such as Nancy in "Martha" by Flotow, Emilia Marty in "Die Sache Makropulos" by Janacek, Gertrud in "Hänsel und Gretel" and 3. Dame in "The Magic Flute". She received enthusiastic reviews for her performances of the title role in Bizet' Carmen. In January 2011 she made her critically acclaimed debut as Isabella at the opening night of "L'italiana in Algeri" by Rossini. Her next debut will be the role of Fata Morgana in "Die Liebe zu den drei Orangen" by S. Prokofjew. She will also again make a guest appearance as Ulrika in "Der Maskenball" by Verdi at Anhaltisches Theater Dessau.
